Meet Tony: Inotek’s Design Manager with 30 Years of Truss & Frame Know-How

When it comes to precision, reliability and experience in timber frame and truss

manufacturing in Victoria, few know the industry like Tony; Inotek’s Design Manager and an integral part of the business since its inception.

Based in regional Victoria, Inotek is a trusted frame and truss manufacturer servicing Melbourne, regional builders, developers and commercial projects. Tony has been with Inotek from the beginning, helping grow the company’s design capabilities from the ground up. Today, he leads a highly skilled team of 10, including local designers and offshore support, producing accurate, daily structural designs for roof trusses, posi systems, wall frames, and complete timber system solutions that are manufactured in-house.

Whether it’s high-end architectural homes, large-scale townhouse developments or complex commercial construction, the Inotek design team ensures every structure is built on solid foundations.

In August, Tony celebrates 30 years in the

frame and truss industry, a career built

from the ground up. He began back in 1995 in Orange, NSW, stacking timber and working on-site before quickly moving into estimating and design roles. This hands-on start gave Tony a practical understanding of every phase of timber construction – from manufacturing through to project delivery.

“I’ve experienced multiple aspects of the construction process,” Tony says. “From estimation to design, I understand the challenges that can occur and support the team through them.”

As Inotek continues to grow across Melbourne and regional Victoria, the design team

handles increasingly complex projects. Tony plays a crucial role in maintaining technical accuracy and workflow consistency – overseeing training, mentoring new staff, performing detailed design checks, and completing the most intricate structural layouts himself.

He also led the training and intricacies of the transition to Mitek – a powerful 3D design software that supports full structural modelling across frames and trusses. This platform helps Inotek deliver more accurate, efficient results to clients throughout Victoria. This includes the incorporation and design process behind the recent Mitek machinery investment.

“The Mitek Sapphire Suite allows us to model everything with accuracy and flexibility,” Tony explains. “We train our team to be multi-skilled. Frames, trusses, roof design... so one designer can take ownership of an entire project. That suits how we work at Inotek.”

A typical day for Tony includes design work, technical support, engineering liaising, client communication, software management and production guidance – ensuring everything flows smoothly between the design office and Inotek’s manufacturing facility in Victoria.

Current projects include detailed custom homes and a 113-dwelling double-storey townhouse development, each one benefiting from Inotek’s in-house design expertise and local manufacturing capability.

Outside of work, Tony enjoys weekends with his family, supporting the Sydney Swans, and running between karate and soccer commitments for his kids.
